Lunds Student theatre presents Medea
Medea by Euripides is an ancient Greek tragedy that is as relevant and captivating today as it was when it was first performed 2500 years ago. It tells the story of Medea, daughter of a king and granddaughter of a god, living as an immigrant in a Greek society. Her husband – the heroic Jason – for whom she left her land and home has decided to take a new wife: it is a betrayal she refuses to accept. The form her vengeance takes has made her name echo throughout history.
While being a decidedly human and personal story about a marriage falling apart, Medea manages to comment on immigration, alienation, feminism, pride, and the very nature of human love.
Directed by Edda Ahrent and Julia Jarvi
