Naval Academy Sjölund

Naval Academy Sjölund

SjöLund - Sweden's oldest naval academic association - was started in 1964 by a happy group in the Royal Navy reserve, also students at Lund University.
Above all, FK em I should be mentioned, i.e. the association's founder and first chairman, Hans Josefsson, but also FK em II, Olof Stenhammar. Both were initially involved in building the association and still keep in good contact today.
SjöLund's aim is to relax from work and study and gather the members around academic and military traditions, to assert the interests of the navy, to keep in touch with the active comrades in the Navy and to work for firm cohesion between the members and the Armed Forces.
Thanks to the spread of the members in business life in Sweden and abroad, there is also an exchange of information with companies and other parts of society outside of student life and the Fleet. Of SjöLund's 245 members, around twenty are active students and the rest are spread out in a global network!
We are housed in AF-borgeni Lundagård, where all students make their pilgrimage. The fair (our meeting room) is located in one of the Academic Association's towers, from where the strait and Denmark can be seen with some effort!
Every year the association holds a ball in Lund, always with a grand dinner at the Grand Hotel. Before this ball, close to a thousand invitations are sent out first and foremost to King Carl XVI Gustaf, own members as well as members of subsidiary associations and to the navy's units. Flaggen (corresponding to the board) and SjöLundscorpsen's agenda is otherwise filled with events in Lund and around Sweden, which can be seen during the semester's activities!
