Jesperspexet

Jesperspexet

Jesperspexet is a free association under TLTH, as well as a student association recognized by AF, and must "produce good entertainment".
It began as early as 1966 with a first tentative attempt to conquer the hearts and wallets of the Lund students with a thunderous performance of "The Flying Dutchman". The script for this spex is still in the archives of the Academic Association, and there it is good.
Jesperspexet has since had the ambition to write and perform a new spex every year. This has been successful, except in the early 70s. Everyone in Jesper is like one big family. It is the collective that is the beauty. No one should stand out more than anyone else. And neither does anyone.
The association is divided into several so-called sections: sex mastery, sewing, stage, make-up, orchestra, light, sound, decor, bar mastery, public bar, etc. Right now, Jesperspex consists of about 100 members, who together work on a spex and vote through everything in a pleasant way. Jesperspexet is a democratic association, where everyone can say what they want at the so-called general meetings. We are also the only spex where each spex theme (so-called synopsis) is decided democratically through proposals from ensemble members.
Jesper's New Year's Day now coincides with the more traditional New Year's Day on January 1. Then the new or old officials take up their posts and begin the preparations for the spring production. Before that, we organize both cottage weekends and parties to create good cohesion, both in the ensemble and in the management group.
Then follows four intensive weeks, when we build the spex. We premiere in mid-February, and usually give four performances to sold-out houses on the Academic Association's Great Stage. During the spring, we take the opportunity to be nostalgic and organize social gatherings with the ensemble for fun. At the end of July, we celebrate Jesper's name day at Studentgården in Skanör. The autumn program varies, sometimes it's an internal event, sometimes it's the Lund Comedy Festival, or we go on tour. No matter what it turns out to be, it's guaranteed to be fun, just like Jesperspexet should be.
