It's cold in 1700th-century Europe, and even colder in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. Tsar Peter the Great has faced great adversity in Turkey and has made his insane brother Ivan the tsar vicar in his place. In his absence, Tsarina Catherine, Peter's wife, tries to claim power with her lover Prince Menshikov at her side. As an ace up her sleeve, she has invited family friend and pole vaulter Sir Patrick Gordon, the man with the world's worst judgment. His mere presence will turn the kingdom into a mess.
This spectacle takes us from stately palaces to dark dungeons where we meet bloated sultans as well as cracked Carolines. The drama is resolved in a vital choice between love and power in classic spex fashion.

In 18th century Europe, it is cold, and in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, it is even colder. Tsar Peter the Great has faced significant setbacks in Turkey and has appointed his deranged brother Ivan as his temporary substitute. In his absence, Tsarina Katarina, Peter's wife, attempts to claim power with her lover Menshikov by her side. As her trump card, she has invited the family friend and bumbling Scotsman Sir Patrick Gordon, the man with the world's worst judgment. His mere presence will turn the realm into sheer chaos.
This spectacle takes us from grand palaces to dark dungeons, where we encounter both extravagant sultans and broken Carolinians. The drama finds its resolution in a life-altering choice between love and power in a classic farcical manner.
