On the outskirts of Skanör, where the old town meets the flood, once lived
Edla and John af Klercker. From their large house they could let their gazes
walk over the small town with the church and the town hall, over the rich
flood and meet the sea in the south. The Student hostel was donated in 1938 to
students at Lund University by Edla af Klercker, to provide “an opportunity
for studies, rest and recreation during free and unforced socializing". Life in
the house at that time went out on both spiritual and culinary stoves, not unlike
The student center today.
The intention of the donation was precisely to provide Lund students with the opportunity to
both studies and recreation. This goal and tradition we make our
best to live up to even today.
What do we offer at the student hostel in Skanör?
DURING THE TERM
During the semesters, as a member of the Academic Society you have the opportunity to book the entire Student hostel in Skanör (Studentgården i Skanör) for your own use! Just like AF committees, student nations and other associations and societies, you can go to the farm to socialize, plan or relax from your studies – it's entirely up to you! DURING THE SUMMER
During the month of July, The student hostel transforms into a summer paradise where you can spend your days on the beach, play croquet in the garden, wander around the idyllic nature that Skanör offers, or sit up late at night and chat with other residents in the garden.
The summer boarding house is run by dedicated students and the foremen work actively to make your time on the farm enjoyable. During your stay, a delicious breakfast with homemade bread is included and in the evening a main course and dessert are offered on weekdays, while a more elegant 3-course menu is served on the weekend. Rules for staying at the Student House
- Smoking and the use of smoke machines or steam machines are strictly prohibited indoors at the student hostel. If the fire alarm goes off due to disregard of fire safety regulations or negligence, the tenant will be charged 10 SEK for the call out of the emergency services. The Academic Society retains the deposit fee.
- Please be considerate of our neighbors. Keep the volume at a reasonable level during your stay and turn off the music after 00:00. Windows and doors must be closed during parties. If complaints are received from neighbors, the deposit will be retained.
- Keep track of your keys. Lost keys will result in a charge for installing a new lock.
- Take care of the student hostel. We expect you to leave the property in good condition – leave it as you would have found it. Failure to clean or insufficient cleaning will result in the deposit being retained – inspection is carried out after each guest.
Accommodation information
ROOMS AND BEDS:
32 beds, divided into three 4-bed rooms, four 3-bed rooms and three 2-bed rooms.
COOKING:
The well-equipped kitchen has two large stoves with ovens, a large refrigerator, a drinks refrigerator, a freezer, a restaurant dishwasher, and a coffee and water kettle. General utensils, pots, pans, etc. are also available.
DINING ROOM:
Dining room that seats 34 people. Crockery, glasses and cutlery are available for about 40 people.
SHOWER, TOILET & LAUNDRY ROOM:
Next to the laundry room, where there is a washing machine, dryer and drying cabinet, there are four showers and four toilets. In addition to these, there are also two smaller toilets, one upstairs and one on the ground floor.
INTERCOURSE:
The Red Cabinet downstairs is suitable for smaller groups of 6-10 people. The Salon and Library upstairs can accommodate 10-30 people. Board games are available to borrow in the hall outside the salon. There is a piano in both the dining room, the Red Cabinet and the Salon.
There is also a sauna with space for about 10 people which can be found in the shower room
OUTDOOR:
Large garden with many interesting and rare plants. Stone patio with furniture and space for at least 40 people. For parties with many guests there is also a tent for the garden to rent. Scenic surroundings with adjacent Flommen and the old castle ruins. The sea and the beach are about a 10-minute walk away.
EXTRA:
Wireless internet that is free to use. Are you having a conference or meeting? Projector, screen and flipchart are available to borrow – please contact us in advance if you are interested!
REMEMBER:
Pillows and duvets are provided in the rooms, but you must bring your own bedding/sleeping bag, towel and shower products.
Please allow time at the end of your stay to clean! Cleaning equipment and instructions are provided.
The house is located in an urban area. Please respect your neighbors by not playing loud music, littering, etc.
For your safety on the farm, the fire alarm in the house is directly connected to the emergency services. If the fire alarm goes off during your stay, you are responsible for the bill. Don't forget to put out candles when you leave a room, don't smoke in or near the house and use do not smoke machine!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT TERM RENTAL
What are the check-in and check-out times at the student hostel?
2:00 PM on the day of arrival – 12:00 PM on the day of departure
What happens if I want to cancel?
Cancellations must be received by the landlord no later than 30 days before the rental date. If cancelled later, half the rental cost will be charged. If cancelled within 15 days before the rental date, the full rental cost will be charged.
Is there toilet paper, dishwashing liquid and cleaning supplies at the student hostel?
Yes!
How much does it cost to rent the tent?
If the tent is already in place, the daily rent is 4,000 SEK. If the tent is to be set up, it costs 9,000 SEK.
When is the deposit refunded?
The deposit fee will be refunded as soon as possible after the guest's stay if the tenant has provided their bank details to the Academic Society. The deposit fee will be refunded in full if there are no complaints about cleaning, damage or noise that has led to complaints from neighbors.
How do I get a key to the Student House?
A code will be sent via email from the Academic Society no later than one day before your stay. Inside the building there are keys to the main entrance.
Can I see for myself which dates are available at the student hostel?
No, there is no open booking calendar. Send an email with your request to Anna Töörn at Akademiska Föreningen and she will get back to you promptly with an answer about availability.
How to get to the student hostel

The student housing is located at Kyrkogatan 3, about a hundred meters from Skanör church. The housing does not have private parking - parking is on the street in accordance with traffic regulations.
Direct buses from Malmö go to the Skanör Stefan Löfvings V stop, which is less than a 10-minute walk from the farm.
